What is FEA?
Finite element analysis (FEA) is the process of simulating the behavior of components of different materials under given conditions so that it can be evaluated using the finite element method (FEM). FEA is used by engineers to help simulate physical phenomena and thereby reduce the need for physical prototypes, while allowing for the optimization of components as part of the design process of a project.
The high-quality simulations in FEA software allow structural designers to start virtual testing early in the design process. The ease of using simulations reduces the designer’s reliance on many physical prototypes and thus cutting prototyping costs. This outcome implies you can cut material wastage and shorten the design cycle.
Many structures are either failing or at a point where they pose significant safety concerns. For instance, in the automotive industry, the vehicles need to be tested for fatigue exceeding their cycles of use to compensate to the hard conditions. Redesigning and prototyping such structures may take lots of time and resources if done in the physical form.
It’s thus ideal for structural engineers in these areas to seek different types of finite element analysis simulations to find remedial measures that will improve the functionality of such structures, making it faster and cheaper.

FAQ You may have some questions about our work:
FEA simulators help remove multiple repetitions of initial prototyping. By initially simulating the system in FEA software, the designer can model different designs and materials in hours, versus the days or weeks of hard prototyping.
Most design iterations don’t depend on manufacturing and machine shop schedules. Almost all new designed structural components can be tested in a few hours. Therefore, each new design can be virtually tested in real short time, instead of waiting days or weeks for a hard copy to be tested.
FEA software allows for better quality products in a shorter design cycle. It also allows for less waste of material and time.
FEA requires the designers to input all the material parameters. The inclusion of all parameters enables precise modeling of all physical stresses on each structural unit. This use of FEA increases material accuracy in the design of structural components by showing how all stresses may impact on the design of a structure. FEA software-based simulation models are far more accurate than physical models that are developed manually. This is why FEA has been the preferred option for most engineers, designers, and others.
